I am beyond excited to venture overseas and discover St. Laurent du Var, France! Having never experienced French culture before, I cannot wait to begin my journey and absorb as much as I can! When I first looked into opportunities to study abroad, I assumed these adventures would not come until my college years, but yearned for them sooner. I went to Spain last summer with my friend’s family and fell absolutely in love with European culture. I spoke to my parents, and my father having traveled Europe throughout college, completely understood my desire to return once again. After much discussion, my parents gave me permission to apply for the opportunity to study abroad with the Abbey Road Program! I started taking French my sophomore year of school and immediately fell in love with the language. The only other foreign language I know is Spanish, and having been surrounded by Spanish my entire life (my mother is Peruvian and my father fluent in Spanish) this language is not so foreign to me. I began my Spanish studies in seventh grade, and looked for something different, something truly foreign. Although this is only my second year of studying French, I feel I am prepared to immerse myself in this culture and language, and cannot wait to do so! I hope to come out of the program with more knowledge than before, and a passion bursting-at-the-seams for the culture. I wish to continue my language studies in college, and hoping this journey further b r o a d e n s m y h o r i z o n s.
